The DFG-1 Emulator

This emulator is written in JavaScript (ECMAScript, ECMA-262:2020) and runs in your web browser. JavaScript must be enabled in your browser (Internet Explorer, Chrome, Firefox, etc) for it to function.

You can move your mouse over the buttons in the top image to display the button’s function and name.

The lower image is the unit’s LCD display. The LCD display is updated with photographs taken of an actual control unit in use. Some of the photographs are slightly blurred. This can be caused by the display being updated, or changing, while taking the photograph. The first image illustrates the delay between an LCD pixel being updated and the Liquid Crystals in the display responding. A few milliseconds later the black pixels are the same (This effect is more pronounced when the display is cold).

The Meter has a flashing cursor which is active when the unit is waiting for user imput. The cursor, its ghost, or no visable cursor may have been photographed depending on the timing. The images used in this emulation have not been edited other than cropped and resized.

The speed at which the display is updated in your browser will depend on your internet connection. Each ‘screen grab’ image is about 350k in size. Once viewed, the image will remain in your web browser’s cache and will be reloaded very quickly. (There are 70 images, less than 25MB in total.) The buttons below the display are updated to show what button should be pressed to move to the next step. When the button shows ‘Next Screen’ the unit would normally move to the next screen without user intervention after a short delay or when it has finished the task – i.e. after checking the SD Card free space.

You can always view Previous Screen this is part of the emulation. You cannot start a grid, take readings and then go back to the settings and make changes when using the equipment, but you can when using this software. You cannot change any of the settings when using this emulator – they are photos. We have tested this Javascript emulator on a range of equipment using different web browsers. It worked on many, but not all combinations. (Update: Your web browser should be a version released in 2016 or later.)

When using this emulator only a few 'ROWS' are taken.

We hope that you find this online emulator interesting. Please contact us if you have any questions or comments.
